The UK’s leading marine conservation charity has launched a campaign to highlight how little things we do in our daily lives – often miles away from the coast – can have a massive effect on the quality of our coastal waters.

The Marine Conservation Society’s (MCS) ‘Poos and Don’ts’ campaign aims to drive home simple pollution messages based around a central theme – wherever you are, your actions have an impact on our rivers, beaches and the sea.

Vestas 11th Hour Racing earn top points for Leg 1 of the Volvo Ocean Race

Vestas 11th Hour Racing have won Leg 1 of the Volvo Ocean Race, crossing the finish line in the River Tagus in Lisbon, Portugal, to complete the 1,870 nautical mile leg in light winds on Saturday afternoon.

The win was a tremendous victory for American skipper Charlie Enright and his team, who earned 8 points for their efforts (including a one point ‘bonus’ for winning the leg).

After a long wait, HMS Queen Elizabeth finally arrived in Portsmouth Harbour this morning at 0710hrs. She was greeted with a flotilla of boats and thousands of people lined the shores to catch a glimpse of the biggest warship ever built for the Royal Navy.
