About Andy King

I started working with Boatshed Liverpool in June 2024.

What did you do before working with Boatshed?
From a very young age I wanted to be an architect, until I realised there was such a thing as a naval architect, which meant I could combine my passion of design with my even greater passion, boats. Now in my 40th year working as a naval architect, I have worked on various design projects in boat/shipyards around the world from small boats to superyachts to aircraft carriers.

What attracted you to become part of the Boatshed team?
Having spent my entire working life in the design & build side of the marine industry I decided I'd like to get more involved in the brokerage side, and here I am.

Are you a motorboater or a sailor?
I started out sailing on family/friends boats on the Menai Straits in North Wales, passing my Day Skipper with the John Percival Sailing School in Hoylake in the mid 90's. Being the dad of 5 took over for a while, but I am now firmly a motorboater having become the proud owner of my own Sealine 390 in 2023.

What is your most memorable boating experience?
My prize for winning a national industry award as an apprentice in the late 80's was a 2-week voyage on the STA Schooner 'Sir Winston Churchill', an absolutely fantastic experience taking in Southampton, Amsterdam, Delfzijl, Boulogne and Shoreham.
